In the Northern part of the Black Hills, sits “LEAD” (pronounced: Leed). Tourist
from around the world enjoy coming to our area for the history, relaxation and adventure.
Lead has history that dates back to the gold rush of 1876. Visit the Black Hills
Mining Museum and the Homestake Visitors Center to learn more. Wild Bill Hickok
and Calamity Jane, both lived and died in our area. Mt. Mariah has become their
final resting place, about 3 miles from here.
Lead offers year-round activities, such as: snowmobiling, snow-shoeing, cross-country
and down-hill skiing, mountain biking, ATV Riding, horseback riding, rock climbing,
hunting, fishing, golfing and more.
